Much of the reason why we serve God is because of the comforting promises we find in the Bible, isn't it? The promise of the forgiveness of sins. The blessings if we read and obey his Word. And probably tops on the list is the hope of eternal life.
Sometimes the greatness of those treasured promises get lost in our daily routines. The demands of work or finding a job in this economy, raising godly kids in twisted culture and keeping the bill collector from knocking down the door can steal our attention away from the very reason why we can smile with hope through it all.
In case it's been a while since you've heard these wonderful words from the Faithful God of Glory to his children, please take a moment for a Promise Break...
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. (Ps. 23:4-6)
Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. (Psalms 37:4)

Wherefore comfort one another with these words. (1 Thess. 4:16-18)
